Betray Your Friend For $1,000,000
Episode 8 of Beast Games begins right where we left off, back at the train tracks. The decision is made and unfortunately, Deano and Jaz are eliminated. Everybody grills Deano for not playing a fair game, and of course this guy could have taken a million dollars earlier on but he chose not to. Bet he’s regretting his choice now!
We now have 10 players remaining and the 5 million dollars is within their grasp. There’s been a lot of people who have sacrificed themselves for this, and it would appear that, with 10 remaining, it’s very much looking like every man (or woman) for themselves. The tower has been changed too, with 10 numbers for each floor and a strange box in the middle of BeastCity.
Each of the gang are living alone without sharing their bunks, but they do get to see their families. This eventually paves way for the next game, where our 10 remaining contestants have to pick keys for each person, starting with 1 and working up to 10. Twana gets key 1 and all the contestants are sorted into their houses. That mystery box in the middle of BeastCity? Turns out it holds 1 million dollars.
Each person, starting with House 1 going up to House 10, can take as much or as little money as they like. If everybody distributes evenly, they can take $100,000 each.
Ironically, Twana has been here before, given she too was in Game 2 and had to choose whether to take a million dollars or not. Instead, she chooses $100,000. Michael in House 2 picks $223,000. House 3 with JC though, decides to stab everyone else in the back and take $650,000 for himself.
So that leaves $27,000 left behind for the rest of them. House 4, Emma, is shocked when she finds there’s only 27000 left. Emma decides to take $5000 to try and split it evenly. Patrick, meanwhile, decides not to take anything. If there’s one thing we know about these games, they’re very manipulative and mental, and he’s sussed that part out.
Jeff in House 6 takes $7272. Gage in House 7 wants to try and evenly split it amongst everyone, so he chooses to take 3682, as do the final 3 houses too.
So now comes the good bit. Get your popcorn ready guys, all the contestants head to the center to discuss what’s happened. It doesn’t take long before they realize JC has taken 650k, and he now has a huge bullseye on his back.
JC has pissed off a lot of people, especially after his comments to Deano at the train tracks. To try and rectify the situation, he decides to lift the lid over what’s been going on. Turns out Patrick, Gage and Jeff have been aligned with JC, with a mission to try and eliminate everybody else at different stages of the game.
Eventually, MrBeast calls the contestants all out together that night, following a day on their own, to head up into the tower. With 10 contestants going up, standing where their numbered keys correspond to, only 6 are going to make it back out.
All the guards bring out the money, revealing how much they all took. I mean, we knew anyway but confirmation of it here reinforces what Patrick thought earlier. For them to make it out, everybody will be voting to eliminate others. However, they can also use the money to bribe others into not voting for them, and this is their only tool to stay in the game.
They have an hour to decide… game on!
The Episode Review
This is the perfect episode to encapsulate exactly why true, utopian equality will never work. There will always be individuals that look out for themselves more than the community, and that much is especially true when it comes to JC. It’s hard to fault the guy for doing what he’s done, given how much debt he’s in, but the cringy explanations and trying to desperately stay in the game is just wasted air at this time. Save your time and money my friend and just let yourself be eliminated, nobody is keeping you around now!
As for the others, it’ll be interesting to see who gets eliminated here and perhaps Patrick is the only smart one in the room by not falling for the ruse with the money. It would have been very interesting to see what would have happened had everybody chose not to take anything but alas, we instead get a disproportionate amount of money that’s likely to be shared across to the different individuals.
If I was JC, I’d just take that money and run because no amount of bribing is going to save his ass. As for the others, we’ll have to wait and see exactly who gets eliminated here but it’s really starting to heat up now!
