Control F For Murder
Based on a True Story Season 2, episode 2 starts with Nathan and Ava trying to act happy about Tory’s engagement to Matt. Matt quickly assures them that he has changed. Ava pulls Tory aside and tries to dissuade her from marrying Matt. However, Tory says that Matt has changed and deserves a second chance. Nathan finds himself torn between defending Tory or supporting Ava. As they talk, Ava realises the baby is too quiet, and they rush out to find Matt holding him.
As the day drags on, Tory joins Ava on her walk in the park with her kid. They argue that Tory is throwing her future away, and Ava feels lonely. They dare each other to prove they are not turning into their mom. Tory dares Ava to make a friend with the moms at the park if she wants her to join law school. Ava tries but ends up getting anxious when the moms start asking so many questions. She panics and leaves.
At home, Matt corners Nathan and asks him to be his sobriety sponsor. At first, Nathan turns him down, but Matt turns on his charms and convinces him. They drive together to Jaden’s place. On the ride, Matt shares his triggers with Nathan. Once they get there, Matt dares Nathan to challenge Jaden’s mom, Christa, about where to park his car. In the end, Christa fires Nathan. Matt feels triggered while watching Christa disrespect Nathan. They drive to the beach, and Nathan tries to get Matt to calm down. They seem to be helping each other, and Matt is determined not to kill anyone.
Later that night, Tory talks to Ava and encourages her to try again. Nathan returns home and lies that he had a good day. He shares with Ava that he thinks Jaden is talented but conveniently forgets to mention he got fired. He also tells her that he is Matt’s sponsor, and Ava is not fully sold on the idea.
The following day, Matt and Nathan drop by the tennis court ahead of Jaden’s match. Nathan begs for his job back, but Christa turns him down. However, Jaden stands up for himself and demands to have Nathan as a coach. He is tired of his mom sleeping with his coaches, but Nathan is different. Pushed to a corner, Christa agrees on the condition that Nathan makes Jaden a champion. Also worth noting is a woman bumps into Matt and Nathan while they are at the golf court. Of course, Matt gets triggered, but Nathan teaches him to use breathing techniques to calm down. Ahead of the game, Nathan motivates Jaden, but the latter doesn’t want his mom around. Matt offers to handle Christa, and Nathan worries that Matt intends to kill her.
Elsewhere, Ava tries to apologise to the nosy moms at the park but ends up panicking. Another mom comes to her defence and drags her away. The two women get a beer and bond over their struggles as moms. Ava finds it easy to talk to her new friend Drew.
After Jaden wins his matches, Christa and Matt return. Matt senses that maybe Nathan is disappointed he didn’t kill Christa. Nathan denies this, and Matt says the breathing techniques really helped. Christa is a rude woman, and he struggled not to slit her throat after she demeans a server. After a long day, Tory, Matt, Nathan, and Ava have dinner together and talk about their day. The episode ends with the police finding a woman stabbed to death. In a shocking twist, we see Drew at the crime scene. It turns out she is a cop. The dead woman looks like the woman who rudely bumped into Matt and Nathan at the Tennis court. Based on the crime scene, Melissa thinks the Westside Ripper is back.
The Episode Review
It took less than 48 hours after Matt returned to have another killing. Now that we know Drew is a detective, we can’t help but wonder if she intentionally approached Ava. Is she on to them? What is her plan to get Ava and Nathan to confess to what they did? Most importantly, does Drew think they are the serial killer or does she know it is Matt?
On the other hand, Matt claims he has changed and is trying his best, but is he? Did he kill the new victim? What if there is a copycat? I doubt Matt will stay calm and let someone take credit for his dark legacy. This show is getting good!
