Bank Under Siege – Season 1 Episode 4 Recap & Review

Number 1

Bank Under Siege episode 4 with a flashback to 11years ago back in Almeria. Jose and Quevas are about to rob a jewel place. This episode focuses on Jose, a bank robber. He tells Quevas that he started stealing when he was nine years old.

Over the years, Jose has been in and out of prison. All he knows is how to rob and have fun. He lives large after stealing, but in most cases, he ends up getting caught.

After robbing the jewel store and getting arrested, he is beaten to a pulp before being thrown to the prison.  At the prison, he is recruited to be part of the Yellow Centuries.

A group of men tasked with robbing, kidnapping, and extorting money from select targets for the Secret Service under Carrero Blanco. The group was used to target the individuals who pose a threat to the status quo of the government. The money they got was supposed to be used to finance the secret activities of the secret services.

Sadly, Blanco was later assassinated and Jose and his secret unit were fired. Jose went back to his life of robbing for a living but was caught again. This time, he met an anarchist in prison who introduced him to his current wife, Christina, and the anarchist’s ideology. He and his wife started robbing a few places in Perpignan and making a name for themselves in the anarchist group.

Christina is the daughter of a French immigrant who fled to escape the dictator in their country. After Franco dies, the two are arrested and sentences to two years. However, in 1977, Spain passed the amnesty law and Christina and Jose were set free since they were political prisoners. After their release, Christina got pregnant, but Jose couldn’t quit his job as a robber.

Presently, we return to the bank, where he takes a short walk outside with Ramon as his buffer. Luckily, he is not shot and killed on the spot and makes it back inside the bank. The General orders the Special Ops team to remain in position and wait.

In the bank, the others fill in Jose on the new plan to blend with the hostages and escape. They all agree it is the best plan. Before leaving, Jose hides some money in the basement of the bank. He also talks to his brother-in-law, Jorge, and asks him to pass a message to his wife if he dies. Jorge is tripping since the police are about to breach.

Elsewhere, Paco and his officer arrest the woman that the fake restaurant owner visited. She happens to be the mysterious woman who made the calls about the demands of the robbers. They find some guns in her bag and anarchist’s books in her house.

However, she refuses to cooperate. Later, Maider visits him and he tells her that one of the robbers has a criminal past and is a well-known bank robber. Maider returns to the office and starts investigating with the help of Isobel. Within a few hours, they discover the identity of Number 1.

Back at the bank, the hostage gets antsy and the Special ops take out Quevas on the rooftop. The robbers switch clothes with some of the hostages and blend in with hostages. Unfortunately, once they make it out, the police order everyone to lie down.

The Episode Review

Maider is really good at her job and cultivating relationships that are useful to her career. Thanks to Paco’s scoop, she might end up breaking the identity of the robber’s leader. This will be a big thing for her career.

Speaking of Jose, he is playing a dangerous game but will he get away with it? If his past is any proof, he has bad luck when it comes to escaping the law. He is always caught and jailed. Paco already knows his identity and it will be over as soon as the cop spots him.

This episode shed a lot of light in how Paco ended up here but we still don’t know who ordered him to rob the bank and why the documents were so important to Manglano.
