Bandidos – Season 2 Episode 3 “Huachicoleros” Recap & Review

Episode 3

Episode 3 of Bandidos Season 2 begins with the bandits finding a sewage system right below the grave. They jump into the tunnel which takes them out via a river. But things aren’t looking good as Leo is bitten by a scorpion. On top of that, Huachicoleros aka gasoline thieves steal their van. While they try to come up with a plan, the thieves surround them.

Mano confronts Ines at a rest stop and tries to kill her. A fight ensues and all he leaves behind is his fake hand before he makes a run for it. Elsewhere, Regina tells Ariel that the gold has already been discovered and sold. Only the diamond remains. He wants to know more and she kisses him.

The Huachicoleros’ boss, Pepa is ruthless. She makes Octavio fight in matches while the rest are imprisoned for organ harvesting. While they wait with trepidation, Lucas tells Citlali he saw her at the airport but stood her up because he was scared. He wants to fix things but she claims it is too late.

Miguel tries to tell Lili about Leo again but she knows. She jokes that the bad guys only let the victims believe they have escaped by planting a mole. But Lili trusts Leo, they only ever had each other. Leo suddenly goes into shock and Miguel punctures his lungs which mildly helps.

Nearby, Ines finds the bandits’ old camp. Alex has left a letter for her and she smiles. She reaches Pepa’s ranch and calls her old colleague, Canche for help before sneaking in.

After Pepa is bored with Octavio, she locks him with the rest. Lili pushes her luck when Pepa obsesses over her beauty. She gives the thief a makeover in exchange for a doctor. Pepa complies – by giving her a shaman. It is her twin sister, Pachita but she heals Leo by extracting the venom.

Miguel notices that Pachita has an ancient necklace which is part of the treasure. She insists that a Mayan woman who freed them gave it. Leo wakes up and she leaves but not before dropping one of her needles. Alex uses it to pick the lock.

Canche shows up only to be surrounded by the thieves. The bandits arrive with Molotov cocktails and a stand-off ensues. Pepa stops them as Ines holds her hostage. She begrudgingly lets them all leave with their van. Once they are gone, Pachita manipulates Pepa into finding the treasure as she realises Miguel is after it.

On their way back, Lili finally tells Miguel about Leo. Regina’s men caught up after she almost bled to death from the gunshot in the Pyrenees. She only let them go after Leo promised to work for her. But Lili insists that Leo is on their side. As for Ines, she tells Octavio to keep his distance for Alex’s sake. 

Once they reach the hotel, Citlali gets a worrying call from home and Lucas insists on helping. Octavio goes to patch up with Ines. Leo and Lili head in and find the cuckolded husband holding Xime at gunpoint. 

At the end of Bandidos Season 2 Episode 3, Regina meets with Miguel as she wants to give her side of the story. She gives him Lili’s case files but he isn’t interested in learning about her this way. She tells him not to be rude and Mano hits him as a warning.

The Episode Review

Bandidos Season 2 Episode 3 finally solves most of the unresolved conflicts that are not wholly related to the treasure hunt. It is a little surprising that the Netflix show does it so quickly as it seems the bandits have come to a standstill now that they are back to square one on their heist. 

We finally know why Lucas stood up Citlali while Lili explains Leo’s double agent role. Octavio and Ines’ relationship hits their biggest obstacle yet and then there is Miguel’s romantic escapade for the sake of history that comes back to bite him.

This chapter also sets up the second arc of the show which is bound to have viewers tuning in for the next episode. It looks like this won’t be the last that we see of Pepa and Pachita who is interestingly the shadier twin. 

Ines has a lead on who Mano is hopefully and poor Miguel finally gets the answers he was looking for regarding Lili. Though, they do come with a punch. Something is up with Citlali too but it isn’t that eye-catching, to be honest. Just give us the bandits on their misadventures to find treasure and we are good to go.
