Bad-Memory Eraser – K-drama Episode 8 Recap & Review

Episode 8

Episode 8 of Bad-Memory Eraser begins with Gun’s wrist paining and him getting disoriented. He gets to the meeting room somehow but the coach is angry that Shin is missing. Sae-yan distracts him with Dalgona coffee while Gun searches for his brother.

Meanwhile, Shin accepts all of Guk-bong’s allegations and states that he doesn’t want Gun to regain his old memories either. However, he and Ju-yeon are not together and the kiss is a misunderstanding.

Still wary, Guk-bong leaves and Ju-yeon wonders why Shin lied. He feels responsible for his brother and similarly, Ju-yeon feels bad for lying. They agree to collaborate together to protect Gun so that he stays happy. Shin goes back to joking that he is glad she isn’t Gun’s first love and she scoffs.

Back at the meeting, the girls have charmed the coach and he agrees to take on Shi-on and Shin. As they leave, Sae-yan is delighted that she earned her first pay cheque and tags along with Shi-on and Gun much to his chagrin. He overhears that Ju-yeon isn’t picking her up and he takes her home. Only for her to fall asleep.

He wonders how to text Ju-yeon who is also thinking what to text Gun. Sae-yan wakes up and scares Gun who ends up sending the wrong text to Ju-yeon. She acts mad and wants to get Gun’s attention but he suddenly leaves when Shin calls him.

Ju-yeon is annoyed by his hot and cold behaviour which worsens as Sae-yan thinks he is charming. Meanwhile, Gun scolds Shin who is playful and promises to make it up to the coach. He claims he was on a date and Gun teases him. Shin tries to gauge if Gun likes Ju-yeon anymore but he deflects.

The next morning, both Ju-yeon and Gun are flustered as they go out of their way to dress up for their first day of work together. Dr. Han reminds Ju-yeon not to be biased and she quickly changes her outfit into something casual. She is abrupt with Gun and tells him to keep a feelings diary for his psych evaluation. However, he just scribbles and runs off.

She is annoyed as she rants to Han who accurately guesses that she is letting her feelings get in the way. She gets defensive before she notices Han getting flustered because of Nurse Song who is single. He changes the topic and Ju-yeon learns that Han had asked Gun to keep a feelings diary for the last 10 years.

As for Gun, he is sprightly as he heads for his investor meeting and notices that he has gotten preference over CEO Hong. The investor turns out to be Chairman Won’s manager and Gun secures funds for his agency. Hong is shocked and when asks about his agency, the manager tells him to come back once he gets Shin onboard.

Shin and his parents are at the hospital for a medical test and they run into the parents of the other players. They are gossiping about Gun and to hype him up, Mrs. Lee claims that he is dating Ju-yeon. Ju-yeon tries to stop her but Shin jumps in and adds that the doctor is with him confusing everyone even further.

Alone, Ju-yeon tries to reprimand Shin but he finds the situation funny. She suddenly remembers Han’s advice for Gun and asks Shin to find his old feelings diary. They realise that it must consist of all his hatred for his family and Ju-yeon.

At that moment, Gun is looking into his accident as he cannot shake off the memories from the J Hotel on the night of the reunion. He asks the paramedics who direct him to the on-site detective. Gun only learns that the accident took place at the bridge and the cause is drowning.

But he has to leave and the detective informs Shin who explains that Gun should be kept in the dark about his suicide attempt. The detective complies but finds it odd that there is no CCTV or dashcam footage that has him suspecting foul play.

Well, Gun heads to the bridge and he suddenly experiences the pain from when Shin choked him that night. But his vision is blurry and he doesn’t know that it was Shin attacking him. Meanwhile, Shin races home and collects all the diaries. But one of them is in Gun’s suitcase which is at Ju-yeon’s from when they switched bags. Sae-yan is hiding her pay cheque in the bag and throws the diary outside to make space.

That evening, Ju-yeon tries to give Gun the cold shoulder so that there are no more misunderstandings about their relationship. However, she falls while fixing the curtain and he saves her. They are interrupted by Gun’s parents who have stopped by for dinner and have also invited Shin over. Gun goes out of his way to distract them while Ju-yeon runs out. They try to ask about Ju-yeon and he insists that there is nothing between them.

She is sitting barefoot outside when Shin arrives. He brings a pair of shoes and a blanket from his car for her. But the Lees have already left and Gun comes down with a pair of shoes. He ends up carrying Ju-yeon up and they bicker while a jealous Shin watches them.

Shin takes out his frustrations on Hong who is trying to get him to renew the contract. He tears it up and leaves so he can sign with Gun and be closer to Ju-yeon. Hong is furious as he throws things around when he notices that one of the photos Sae-yan’s father sent is of Shin threatening Gun at the bridge.

Hong follows Shin to Gun’s office and stops him right when he rings the bell. Gun and Ju-yeon are about to open the door when they overhear their conversation. Hong threatens to tell Gun the truth but Shin claims that his brother already knows about the drowning. Gun suddenly recalls hitting his head on the rails before falling into the water.

During this moment, he misses Hong showing Shin the photo. By the time Gun opens the door, Hong and Shin are gone. Ju-yeon promises to explain everything and he is hurt that she also lied. At the end of Bad-Memory Eraser Episode 8, Hong deduces that Shin pushed Gun into the river.

The Episode Review

Well, well, well, the mystery is really mysterying. Did Shin truly use his influence to erase CCTV footage? But Bad-Memory Eraser Episode 8 is a classic case of misdirection. We know it looks bad for Shin right now but we doubt he pushed Gun into the river. If memory serves, Shin takes the medal from Gun’s hand.

What we can gather is that the brothers must have fought, Shin must have thrown Gun’s medal into the river and walked off. In trying to catch the medal, Gun must have fallen and hit his head. And Shin must have jumped after him to save him.

Honestly, this K-drama is not even a mystery. The focus is on the rom-com bit as the bridge incident is more like a catalyst to cause a wedge between the main characters before they all get together and have a happy ending. And we do hope the Lee brothers patch up.
