Episode 7
Episode 7 of Bad-Memory Eraser begins with Gun, Shin and Ju-yeon getting awkward. Shin pretends not to know Ju-yeon and looks jealous when he sees Gun taking care of her. After they leave, Ju-yeon tries to explain herself to Shin and hopes their lunch date is still on.
Shin looks sad as he marvels at the power of love which turned a drowning incident into a good memory for Gun. Inside, Gun recalls Tae-oh who revealed that Gun and Ju-yeon did not see eye to eye prior to the accident.
Believing he is alone, Gun then roams around his condo naked only to be surprised by Ju-yeon who has returned to study Shi-on’s case. She also spots the charger he got for her phone but he pretends that it is the landlord’s. He switches topics by putting on Shi-on’s practice videos but Ju-yeon’s loud commentary annoys him. The next day, he doesn’t offer her breakfast as he claims he is distancing himself so he doesn’t fall for her again.
Meanwhile, Shin gets drunk and arrives home to an angry Mrs. Lee who scolds him. If he wants to live a normal life, he should quit tennis. Mr. Lee tries to calm her down as she shares that everyone has sacrificed for him including his brother. Mr. Lee drags Shin away who is happy as he can now bond with Gun again.
As for Sae-yan, she begs her father to give her some money and points out that she doesn’t have any of her own as he never let her get a job. He demands that she come home and she promises to after she finds someone. Seung-hyeon feels bad for her and gives her his piggy bank.
She tries to book a taxi with the money but she spots a sulking Shin waiting to catch a glimpse of Ju-yeon while lying to his mom about his whereabouts. She threatens to tell on him and he is forced to drive her to a village. Her search for the mystery man is in vain and she looks sad. Shin tries to cheer her up but she throws him in the water. That definitely lifts her spirits but Shin takes revenge by driving off without her
At the hospital, Ju-yeon waits for Shin for their lunch date but he never shows up. Instead, she joins Gun and Shi-on who are waiting for her final test before the national teams competition the next day. Shi-on still doesn’t like her but Ju-yeon is convinced she can sway her by tomorrow. With nothing else to do, she takes up one of her patients but she space out in the middle of the session.
She then gets a call from Sae-yan and Ju-yeon promises to pick her up. Gun offers to drive her and wonders who is this person that Ju-yeon is close to. She shows him Sae-yan’s bracelet and shares that she owes her a wish debt. Halfway to the village, they come across a dead animal and Gun gets out to bury it.
In that time, Shin comes back and picks up Sae-yan who tells Ju-yeon that she doesn’t need her help. Shin wonders who she is searching for as he has ties to the village and she claims the mysterious man is her first love.
As for said first love, Gun wonders what is up with Ju-yeon who has been downcast all day. She reveals that her dad was an emotional psychiatrist who gave his all to his patients. But one day, a delusional patient killed him. Since then, Ju-yeon vowed not to get too close to any patient.
But during her latest session, she saw herself in the patient’s sunglasses and realised that she looked bored and annoyed. She is disappointed with herself but Gun assures her that she is doing her best even if it is just listening to someone.
It is D-Day and everyone shows up at the sports center. We see that Guk-bong has been selected as the national team coach. Shin ignores Ju-yeon while Mrs. Cha pressures Sh-ion to do well. Right before the match, Shi-on faints and Gun and Ju-yeon rush her to the hospital before they realise she is faking it.
Shi-on is worried and the expectations are too much for her. Ju-yeon uses Gun’s words on Shi-on and tells her to do whatever she wants. Gun says the same and Shi-on agrees to the match. We see that Gun has requested the director to put Shi-on in the doubles match so she and Shin can cover up each other’s weaknesses with a guaranteed chance of winning.
While Gun and Ju-yeon wait for the results, the latter makes a wish bracelet for Sae-yan. Gun thinks it is for him and keeps telling her not to fall for him. They bicker as she finds the receipt of the phone charger before they are interrupted by Shi-on. She and Shin have won. She adds that it is up to Gun if he wants to hire Ju-yeon. Gun teases Ju-yeon before agreeing and she is excited.
Guk-bong and Shin watch from afar and the coach is surprised that Shin agreed to doubles. Shin believes it is the only thing he can do to help Ju-yeon and Guk-bong is confused. He further wonders why Gun and Ju-yeon are so close and Shin reveals that she is Gun’s first love. This shocks Guk-bong as for him, this means Ju-yeon and Shin were making out at the reunion.
Inside, Mrs. Cha approves of Gun and CEO Hong is annoyed. However, he steps down as he points out that he has way more talents in his agency, unlike Gun. Shi-on and Gun simply mock Hong before running away.
That evening, Gun, Guk-bong, Shin, Shi-on and Ju-yeon get ready for the meeting with the international coach. It happens to be in the same hotel as the reunion and Gun keeps getting deja vu. The coach is Italian but the interpreter has run off so Ju-yeon brings in Sae-yan. While Gun is parking the car, more memories return including the one where he sees Shin making out with Sae-yan.
As the rest wait, Guk-bong confronts Ju-yeon and tells her to stay away from Gun. She and Shin are confused and Guk-bong scolds them for feigning ignorance. He reveals that Gun jumped into the river because he was heartbroken on seeing Shin and Ju-yeon kiss at the reunion. Shin catches Ju-yeon’s lie as he realises that Gun’s first love is Sae-yan.
At the end of Bad-Memory Eraser Episode 7, Gun and Sae-yan shake hands as they get ready to meet the Italian coach.
The Episode Review
Bad-Memory Eraser Episode 7 finally gets us one step closer to the truth as Gun and Sae-yan finally meet, Ju-yeon’s lie is exposed and Shin finally understands why Gun was angry on the day of the reunion. Thank goodness for Guk-bong who is Gun’s only true friend.
But we do wonder what will happen to the established dynamics now as Sae-yan is still in love with Gun who is in love with Ju-yeon who cares for Shin who is also in love with Ju-yeon. This is one confused love rectangle.
As for Ju-yeon, we are still yet to warm up to her fully but she is finally treating Gun nicely. However, she does seem to have more chemistry with Shin, who we unfortunately know is the second male lead. Well, we are reaching the mid-way mark of the K-drama so the writers better fix Gun and Ju-yeon’s dynamic before making them endgame.
