Episode 4 Recap
The recap of Bad-Memory Eraser Episode 4 begins with Dr. Yeo leaving and Tae-oh spotting Gun and Ju-yeon. Ju-yeon is uncomfortable with Gun stopping her physically and Tae-oh jumps to her rescue. He threatens to change doctors if Gun doesn’t listen and Ju-yeon drags him away as it would mess up the trial.
She tries to change the topic by asking Tae-oh to dinner but he deflects by asking her to fill in for Dr. Yeo. She, of course, agrees and Tae-oh instantly runs off. Gun is unhappy and tries to get her to say no to Tae-oh. However, Ju-yeon tells him not to cross the line and accidentally cuts his face in trying to get away from him. While she works, she sees that Tae-oh has left her a coffee and she once again cheers up.
Meanwhile, Gun sneaks home to have a bath. Shin is annoyed as Gun keeps using his clothes and his card. But when Gun brings up the fact that his wallet and phone are missing, Shin looks suspicious. With Gun refusing to go back to the hospital, Shin calls Guk-bong to babysit Gun.
As for Sae-yan, she has to babysit Ju-yeon’s nephew. She spends her time drinking and trying to contact Shin. On seeing his match on TV, she heads out but not before helping the local lady clear the trash. Ju-yeon arrives and is annoyed that Sae-yan is friendly to outsiders but is a pain to her hosts. Tired, Ju-yeon falls asleep and misses Gun’s appointment. But on learning he is at the tennis court, she heads there.
Meanwhile, CEO Hong forces Shin to wear new sponsored shoes for the match even though he may get blisters. He also threatens to expose the investigation if Shin doesn’t listen. Outside, Hong runs into Gun who wants reassurance that he will be hired full-time if he gets Shi-on to sign with the agency.
Well, she doesn’t like the agency but she wants to play a match with Gun. If they win, she will sign with the agency. Gun agrees but he is off his game as he keeps hitting Shi-on and missing the ball. As he leaves, he finds Sae-yan angry doodling on Shin’s poster. He doesn’t recognise her and security kicks her out.
Next, Gun feeds the hospital staff minus Tae-oh and notices Dr. Yeo wearing an Eiffel Tower necklace. Song suddenly shares her Eiffel Tower keyring is missing and Gun starts coughing, confirming that he stole hers for Ju-yeon.
Meanwhile, Shin is on a roll at his semi-final match as he scores easily. However, he has blisters on his feet and his mother is upset as he is slow. Hong forces him to stay quiet and Shin heads to the chemist for ointment. He runs into Ju-yeon who wants anti-drowsy meds and the eggs he carries break. He thinks he is jinxed while she tries to help him get over the superstition.
But the stakes are high – if he wins, he gets 100 million won, but if he loses, in terms of fans and sponsorships, he loses 1 billion won. Ju-yeon is not able to console him but she tries to indulge him in his jinx-breaking routine by eating his favourite dishes. However, it turns out there is no such routine and he just wanted to boost her energy and mood.
She is touched but tells him to also pay attention to his own needs. She tells him he played well and he is happy. He starts running with her cab as he needs to get his running hours in but he also wants to accompany her as she heads back to the hospital for her night shift. She is in awe that he catches up. She wipes some dirt off his face and cheers him for his final match.
His delight is short-lived as he gets notifications of Gun spending a couple of grand on food and calls him to berate him. He suddenly remembers Ju-yeon’s keyring and calls out to her when Gun tackles him as it turns out he was just behind Shin. He claims it is Nurse Song’s and takes the keyring. But both brothers end up lying on the grass and reminiscing about their dreams and childhood.
Gun is sad that he cannot play tennis well anymore and Shin promises to make his dream come true. However, Gun tells him to follow his own dreams. As kids, we see Gun wanting a cloud and Shin copying his brother. Gun claims that all the clouds and the sun can be Shin’s while he can take a star. At present, Gun hopes to follow his own dream without crossing the line and we see that it was Gun, not Tae-oh who brought Ju-yeon coffee.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Kyung has taken a part-time job and gets hurt while trying to hide from Ju-yeon as she doesn’t approve. Sae-yan wonders why Ju-yeon is so cold when she was kind as a kid. Mrs. Kyung shares that her husband used to work overtime and was killed by his patient. Ju-yeon found him and since then she doesn’t want her to work part-time. She acts cold but she has a kind heart.
We see this when Gun wakes up to see a bandaid on the cut on his face. He then watches Shi-on’s practice and has an idea. He has Shi-on sign a contract with him and he resigns from Hong’s agency. Turns out, he has opened his own agency, GOON. Hong threatens to expose Shi-on’s injury but Gun is one step ahead and has already released the news.
Meanwhile, Kim and the hospital board are excited about the trial but before they can fully fund it, they need the documents from the UK doctors that support the trial. We finally get back to the case of the missing suitcase as Ju-yeon realises she never got her bag containing the docs back from Gun.
Gun has no memory of the suitcase, Shin is busy with his finals and their parents are in the audience. Ju-yeon pretends to ask for Gun’s ID and gets Mrs. Lee’s permission to pick it up from their house.
At that moment, Shin recalls Ju-yeon and Gun’s words about him putting himself first and he fumbles the last serve. He still wins and his mom goes on about increasing his practice. But he decides to go home much to her chagrin. He arrives home only to find Sae-yan waiting for him at the gate.
Inside, Ju-yeon is lost in the Lee house trying to find her suitcase. She enters Gun’s room and notices that he only has photos of his grandparents. She finds her suitcase and is running out when Gun enters. And with that, the recap of Bad-Memory Eraser Episode 4 ends.
The Episode Review
Bad-Memory Eraser Episode 4 has us conflicted in the romance department since Ju-yeon has way more chemistry with Shin than she does with Gun. And it has nothing to do with the actors.
It is more to do with the fact that Ju-yeon has been absolutely horrible to Gun since the day they met but with Shin, she fits the love interest perfectly. In fact, put them together and give Gun a whole different love interest, maybe the Sae-yan chick. After all, she is his first love.
Mrs. Lee continues to get on our nerves as well but fine, we can see that she is trying with the way she worries about Shin’s blisters and allows Ju-yeon to enter their home for Gun’s sake.
But the new dynamic that we are here for is Gun and Shin’s. Their scene on the ground with a cocky Gun unknowingly reaffirming that Shin should be allowed to follow his own dreams must have meant a lot to Shin. We only hope he has nothing to do with Gun’s bridge incident.
