Bad-Memory Eraser – K-drama Episode 13 Recap & Review

Episode 13

Episode 13 of Bad-Memory Eraser begins with the photos being leaked and there are rumours that Shin tried to kill Gun. Hong and Gun ask the cops to look for him. When they refuse, Gun says they should track him for attempted murder.

Meanwhile, Shin gets a voicemail from the stalker saying that he should come out of his hiding or he will share the footage with everyone. At that moment, Gun goes through the dashcam footage of the reunion night and sees Shin jumping from the bridge and Gun trying to save him.

A flashback to the reunion night shows the brothers fighting over who sacrificed for whom. Shin says it is suffocating to replace him and Gun tells him to stop being his copycat then. As Gun walks away, Shin says he is tired and jumps. Gun holds him with his right hand and Shin is glad he held his hand. Shin tries to pull away but in trying to stop him, Gun falls and hits his head against the rail, Shin rescues him and tries to perform CPR while crying it is all his fault.

At home, Mr. Lee reveals that it is all his fault for pressuring Shin as he lost all their money. And to help him, Shin would go to all kinds of events to help earn. Meanwhile, Ju-yeon keeps checking in on Gun by asking Han to check on him. Elsewhere, Sae-yan still has no luck finding her father.

Ju-yeon tries to get her to check on Gun but Sae-yan wonders why she keeps pushing her onto him. Ju-yeon deflects by helping her find her father. One lady knows him but she is scared and cuts the call. But another person claims to know him and sets up a meeting.

As for Shin, he reaches a beach and buys a camping kit from a couple. He then meddles with some delinquents and accidentally gives them his wallet while trying to help. Luck doesn’t seem to be on his side as the tennis association is angry. If Shin doesn’t show up in 2 days, he will be permanently expelled and Gun promises to find him.

Next, we have Sae-yan meeting her father. She hugs and cries which has him looking at her with pity. He ends up revealing that he is not her father but was paid to pretend. Outside, we see her mother and Ju-yeon waiting. Mrs. Jeon reveals that she has already sent in Sae-yan’s resignation which Ju-yeon disapproves.

Mrs. Jeon shares it is to spare everyone from bad memories which is when Sae-yan stalks up to her and begs her to leave her alone. She leaves and Ju-yeon tells Mrs. Jeon not to deceive her and follows after Sae-yan.

Meanwhile, a freezing Shin is forced to hoard blankets and call Ju-yeon for help via payphone. He gets embarrassed and cuts the call but she finds the payphone’s location. At the same time, the delinquents find his ID in his wallet and post it on social media which has Gun rushing to the beach as well.

Ju-yeon arrives first and assures Shin that Gun is sorting the mess. He is sad that she is only there to help ease Gun’s worries. But he is happy that he got to spend time with her as she makes him comfortable. He shares that he started self-harming as a teen which Gun saw him and asked Han to look after him. Shin was scared that he had mentioned it in his emotion diary which is why he burned it.

He is upset that Gun keeps picking Shin above himself and recalls that he used his injured hand when he tried to save Shin at the bridge. Shin thanks Ju-yeon for helping him live again and she tells him to take it step by step if he is unsure of his future.

Gun arrives and sees them together. He walks off and Ju-yeon tries to clear misunderstanding. He says he is tired of complicated things and he wants to move on from his first love. She tries to stop him and he calls her clingy, commenting that it’s probably why her father left her. She slaps him and he walks off while Shin watches from afar.

Meanwhile, Han and Kim believe that after the second trial, they can resolve the side effects. However, Tae-oh successfully performs a reset on Mouse 109 and threatens to tell Gun about the side effects if Han won’t let him perform the reset trial on Gun.

Han informs Ju-yeon who panics and tries to reach Gun before Tae-oh. Shin helps her and once they reach the city, he wishes her farewell.

As for Gun, he is out on a run, thinking about his memories of Ju-yeon. She calls Yeo who reveals Tae-oh is at the lab. She heads to the hospital and finds Gun at the tennis court as he recalls Ju-yeon telling him that he can restart his life. She scolds him for making her worry and he kisses her at the end of Bad-Memory Eraser Episode 13.

The Episode Review

Bad-Memory Eraser Episode 13 is actually a decent episode if we forego the toxic romance between the main couple. You know what, if we pretend that the K-drama starts from episode 8, it can be considered as a healing bromance which focuses on the messy dynamic between the Lee brothers as they try to accept their fate.

No matter how hard the writers try, Ju-yeon’s character is beyond redeemable which is a shame as she has gone from the female lead to a prop that helps the other characters grow.

And is it just us or are the writers just making Sae-yan’s family drama more complicated than it is? It is very likely that her biological father is abusive and so her mother wants to spare her. So, why doesn’t Mrs. Jeon just tell her the truth so that Sae-yan stops looking for him instead of being so cryptic?

And how is Ju-yeon involved? This is the second time that Mrs. Jeon has mentioned that Ju-yeon is somehow involved. Is she her half-sister? Especially since we are finally told that Ju-yeon’s father has abandoned her.
