Assassin’s Creed Mirage
Set in ninth-century Baghdad, this latest entry in the Assassin’s Creed series puts you in the shoes of Basim, a thief-for-hire who is haunted by supernatural visions. During the game, you will see his transition from a plucky rogue to a fully-fledged member of the Assassin Brotherhood fighting for peace and liberty against the Templar Order.
The game will be going back to the series’ roots, with a bigger focus on linear storytelling and stealth gameplay. This is exactly what many of us want from the upcoming title as while the last game in the series – AC Valhalla – was a good one, it took forever to complete and it largely shifted the focus away from stealth in favour of combat and role-playing-game elements.
The map in Assassin’s Creed Mirage will reportedly be smaller than the last game, being closer in size to Unity’s depictions of Paris than the vast open world of Valhalla. This accounts for the shorter running time but we’re still hoping there will be plenty of hidden areas to explore as we sneak around the game’s environments.
Similar to previous AC protagonists, Basim will be armed with smoke bombs, poison darts, and throwing knives, so there will be plenty of opportunity for sneaky gameplay as you wander around the various districts of Baghdad. If you’re anything like this writer, you will probably need a few more weapons up your sleeve if you tend to stumble into the arms of guards after mistiming a jump from a window or leaving the safe confines of a shadowy area too early!
If you’re looking forward to this upcoming title, you’ll be glad to know the release date has recently been moved forward. When will it be emerging from the shadows? Keep reading to learn more.
What platforms is Assassin’s Creed Mirage releasing on?
Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Amazon Luna and PC on the 5th of October, 2023. The game was originally set to launch on the 12th of October but we’re guessing somebody snuck into Ubisoft’s headquarters and smuggled the game away for an early release.
