A Sign of Affection – Episode 2 Recap & Review

To Affection

Yuki’s thoughts of Itsuomi consume her at the beginning of A Sign of Affection Episode 2. She is extremely uncertain as to whether she is in love with him or merely has a crush on him. She then discusses the matter with Rin, who assures her that he can be what she wants him to be.

Following this, Itsuomi informs Yuki that he is leaving for Laos. She enthusiastically responds yes when he texts her and asks if she wants any mementos. While on the trip, Itsuomi sends adorable pictures of himself to Yuki, which makes her heart melt.

Yuki sees Itsuomi across the street the day after he gets back from his trip. Both of them are pleased to see each other. On the other hand, Oushi, a childhood friend of Yuki’s, learned sign language for her and is extremely protective of her. This appears to have disturbed Itsuomi, although he remains silent over the matter.

During the closing moments of the episode, Yuki tells Rin that she is in love with Itsuomi. We also find out that Itsuomi has mastered some basic sign language gestures to communicate with Yuki.

The Episode Review

In episode two, Yuki wonders if she has developed feelings for Itsuomi or if she is just infatuated with him. On the other hand, Itsuomi takes a brief vacation to Laos. Oushi, a childhood friend of Yuki, is also introduced to us.

Just like the previous episode, this one is pleasant, light, and touching. The characters are truly comforting, especially Yuki. A warm connection forms between Yuki and Itsuomi as well. Not only that, but the supporting cast is fascinating as well.

However, up to this moment, the show has lacked that IT factor. Even though the visuals are fantastic, something is lacking: the authenticity of the characters’ emotions, the profoundness of their friendships, and the magic of falling in love. The show seems to be skipping over what could have been a beautiful process.

That said, the show seems to be quite promising. Going forward, it will be fascinating to watch how the plot develops.
