Asaf – Season 1 Episode 4 “Accident” Recap & Review

Accident 

Episode 4 of Asaf begins with Asaf in a club when he gets a call from the strange man who took Atlas. The man claims that many people have died because of Asaf. Asaf denies this and the man scoffs. He then warns him that something is about to go down. Asaf calls out for Ruya while trying to warn her that someone is about to attack her.

Elsewhere, the police find Argun’s shoe near the lake where Asaf threw his body. Cüneyt and his partner call for divers to look for the body. In a flashback, we discover that Argun had tried to warn Cüneyt not to get involved with Payen Kuyern. He wanted to end the organisation himself without involving any other police officer.

Cüneyt later met with Nasuh and planned to take him out with a sniper. As always, Cüneyt was one step ahead and had his men kill the sniper. It turns out that Cüneyt was supposed to deliver Little Joe to Nasuh. Nasuh wanted him to erase Little Joe’s records and bring him back to him. Cüneyt picked Little Joe from an orphanage, promising to take him to a new family as long as he didn’t tell anyone his real name. He is also the one who gave Little Joe the bracelet.

On the other side, Asaf was meeting with Murat to vent his frustrations about his ongoing divorce. His mom was also disappointed with him because he was late to donate blood for his father. That morning, Asaf was nursing his hangover when a call from a client came through. It was then that Cüneyt accidentally hit his car and Little Joe saw everything.

Presently, Asaf meets with Servet and realises that Nasuh uses Servet’s construction land to hide the dead bodies. Servet was trying to fight back until Asaf wrecked his office. It finally dawns on Asaf that Nasuh meant it when he said there is no way out of the organisation. He goes to the mechanic shop and demands another car while his car is getting fixed. He confidently demands his ring back and acts like a boss.

He then drops by to pick Little Joe up to ask how he got into his car the night of the accident. Little Joe explains he was waiting in Argun’s apartment but clams up when Asaf asks more questions. In the meantime, Ruya meets Cüneyt and tries to find more information about Argun’s disappearance. She asks about the package and lets Cüneyt listen to the last message Argun sent her. He begged her to come quickly and pick up the package.

In a flashback, we learn that Little Joe told Argun that Cüneyt was the one who was to deliver him and the accident. After Argun realised that Little Joe was the package, he took him to his home.

Presently, the mechanic shop offers Asaf a different car while they fix his old one. The manager thinks Asaf is a powerful member of Payen Kuyern. He is hoping that Asaf can help his boss rise in the ranks. Of course, Asaf plays this to his advantage and agrees to meet with the car shop owner later. After picking up his new car, Asaf visits Sema and apologises to Harun. He makes it clear that he will fight for his son in court, shocking Sema and Harun.

Ruya corners Asaf, and he tries to warn her to drop the matter. He denies meeting with the informant, and they drive to a club. Ruya is angry that Asaf is lying to her and vows to figure things out on her own. He follows Ruya to the club and gets a call from the strange man. As the man gets close to Ruya, Asaf is forced to pull out the gun that the informant left in his car and shoot it in the air. This causes a commotion but ends up saving Ruya’s life. People start running out of the club, and the strange man hides among them. Simultaneously, Ruya gets a message informing her that the police found Argun’s body. As Asaf comforts her, Cüneyt arrives and arrests Ruya for Argun’s murder. He threatens Asaf and asks him to bring Little Joe to him the next day.

The following morning, Asaf drives to the orphanage to see Little Joe. He picks Little Joe up and tries to explain the situation. Once Little Joe sees Cüneyt, he realises that Asaf is about to break his promise and hand him over to Cüneyt. Little Joe seems especially scared of Cüneyt and begs Asaf not to let him go. He reveals that Cüneyt was the one who killed Argun. Cüneyt didn’t know that Little Joe was hiding in Argun’s closet when he killed the captain. Luckily, Little Joe managed to sneak out and get into Asaf’s car. Asaf was too busy panicking while walking around the apartment and failed to notice Cüneyt hiding Argun’s body in his car.

After realising that Cüneyt was the one who tried to frame him, Asaf takes off with Little Joe. Cüneyt calls him on his phone and Asaf informs him that he will be the one to finish Payen Kuyern.

The Episode Review

What an interesting twist! Cüneyt was the one who killed Argun and tried to frame Asaf, and when that failed, he targeted Ruya next. He should have listened to Argun and turned Nasuh down. It is too late for Argun to himself, but maybe Asaf can bring Payen Kuyern to its knees. He just has to calm down, draw up a plan, and get Little Joe to safety first.

The good thing is Asaf has figured out a way to make the organisation work to his advantage. He knows how to use the organisation to open doors for himself, and this will help him in his next move. If he remains as confident and determined as he is, he just might pull this off.
