Seattle’s Amber Pacific looks for promise and hope, even though they see everything cascade around them. They are a band that has been around for more than a moment, with a sound that has this evocative and infectious quality. From the beginning to the conclusion of their album All In, their songs clearly reflect chances lost and the weight of burdens.

Pop punk gets a bad rep, but we know there are always diamonds in the rough – bands and artists that show up and show something different. Amber Pacific does this well, cutting in and out and breaking the tension and the mold. They have been around for moments when peace had real strength too, when happiness counted, and smiles were noticed.

That rebellious nature, the gravitation towards rock and punk, the little snippets of emotion, that hunger for validation…there is so much to like here. Throughout the record, the band shows they still have it, that they own the stage, and that they have the best outlook.

‘Sink Or Swim’ starts off like a pure pop punk banger, and the riff shudders through all the commotion. The lyrics tell us that the light is failing, and age is passing on, grinding the bones and the heart.

‘Unbroken’ begins with brilliant percussion, then the guitars sound supreme, with lyrics that depict struggle and desperate signs. This is some of the band’s best work.

‘One Step Away’ opens with chugging guitars and a great framework. The band describes darkness and cutting fights. Love comes into the equation, though it becomes busted.

In this album, Amber Pacific shows their strength in honest situations, with music that still resonates.
