Adoration – Season 1 Episode 5 Recap & Review

 The New Plan

Adoration episode 5 starts with Vanessa trying to get the hang of her new job. She accidentally pours food on one of the clients, and Giancarlo tries to help her. Elsewhere, Enza thanks Manuela for being there for her. Manuela calls Andrea, Enza’s husband, and asks why he has not shown up for his family yet.

On the other hand, Enrico’s dad takes him rowing to encourage him to rise above the situation. While there, they run into the rowing coach. The coach tells Enrico’s dad that the police have been asking questions about Giorgio. He adds that the police have been asking about amphetamines since it was found in Elena’s system. Enrico’s dad promises to handle the situation and later talks to Chiara. He informs her that Giorgio was kicked out because of selling amphetamines to the team, but he covered up for him.  

In the meantime, Christian and Vera keep on running into each other and talking. Vera is happy when her dad finally arrives in town. He explains that his girlfriend’s pregnancy has been risky, and he couldn’t leave her. He promises to help Giorgio, and asks Vera if she wants to name her little sister. At the house, Enza talks to the lawyer and doesn’t appreciate Andrea swoops in. After hearing the police suspect Giorgio of giving Elena drugs, he promises to get to the heart of it. Diana drops by and Vera kicks her out.  

Once the lawyer leaves, Andrea and Enza get into another heated argument. Vera takes her dad’s side. Andrea says he doesn’t like the lawyer and wants to get a new one. Later, he meets with Giancarlo and Enrico’s dads. He tries to convince them to get their sons to tell the truth about the drugs. Even though Giorgio took the blame, Giancarlo gave him the money to buy the drugs, and all the boys were using the pills. The parents act like they agree, but once Andrea leaves, Sergio signals to Giancarlo’s dad that they won’t do it. 

On her break, Vanessa meets a new friend, Arianna, who casually knew Elena. Arianna invites Vanessa to a party later that night. However, Vanessa turns her down, since she has plans to meet Giancarlo. However, she changes her mind when she gets into another fight with Giancarlo.

She is tired of Giancarlo being nice to her all the time and ignoring the issues in their problem. This time, Giancarlo shouts at her and kicks her out. Vanessa calls Arianna and they head to a lesbian party outside town. Giancarlo later calls her, and she ignores his calls. He texts her, asking her to call her parents since they are worried. Vanessa texts her dad and explains she is on her way home from a party.  

After spending a few hours there, Vanessa asks Arianna to take her home. Before that, they stop for a few drinks and some food. Vanessa hints that she is having trouble with Giancarlo. As they eat, Enrico shows up and says hi. Arianna recognises him as Elena’s boyfriend. Upon getting home, Vanessa gets into another argument with her mom. Her dad checks in on her, but Vanessa pushes him away. Later, she masturbates as she thinks about Arianna kissing her girlfriend. 

Sergio and Giancarlo’s dad introduce Andrea to a new lawyer who claims that Giorgio’s chance of winning the case is low whether he gave Elena the drugs. The lawyer suggests that Giorgio quickly takes a summary judgment before the arraignment.

However, Andrea is not convinced after meeting with the lawyer, and Giancarlo’s dad scolds him for wasting their time. They convince him to think about it and he shares the plan with Enza. She is not pleased to hear the lawyer wants Giorgio to plead guilty for a lesser prison time. Andrea and Vera visit Giorgio and try to convince him to take the summary judgment. When Giorgio refuses, Andrea informs Ver he is heading back to Rome, and she loses it. She blames him for always leaving and walks away.  

At the restaurant, Melissa talks to Vanessa and learns she is having doubts about Giorgio’s role in Elena’s death. Diana continues to play a dangerous game of seducing Claudio when he drops by with his wife.  She even drops his wife’s sunglasses at their house when she forgets them at the restaurant. Claudio asks Diana to join him when he leaves for Rome once the vacation is over. Diana agrees after Claudio explains that his wife will remain behind. 

After the fallout with her dad, Vera runs into Christian and vents all her troubles to him. They end up having unprotected sex and Christian panics. Vera makes up with Diana and she offers to get her the emergency pill. Of course, Claudio gives Diana a prescription when she asks. After calming down, Christian meets with Vera and apologises. They decide they should end things before they make more mistakes. 

Meanwhile, Giancarlo confronts Vanessa about going to a party without telling him. She breaks up with him. The episode ends with Arianna visiting Vanessa at the restaurant. She claims she remembered a video her friend took a few months ago while they were out. She shows the video to Vanessa. In the background of the video, one can see Enrico getting violent with Elena as he drags her to his car while shouting at her. 

The Episode Review

As we said last time, Giorgio might have a lot of evidence stuck against him, but he didn’t kill Elena. He was in the wrong place, at the wrong time, with the wrong person. Based on the video, we can assume that Enrico is not the sweet, caring boyfriend he claims to be.

All that glitter is not gold. Behind the scenes, he was abusive. It is not a stretch to assume he knew about Giorgio and Elena and killed her, then set Giorgio up to take the fall. Now that there is new evidence, will the police look into Enrico? Will Elena show Chiara the video and will the truth finally come out?
