Adoration – Season 1 Episode 2 Recap & Review

Adoration episode 2 starts with a flashback of Elena meeting the mysterious man. Surprisingly, it is not Giancarlo but Giorgio, Vanessa’s cousin. They meet up and have sex. Presently, Giorgio tells Vanessa and Giancarlo that he was having an affair with Elena. They had even talked about moving to Rome together.

He insists that he took Elena home. Vanessa asks Giorgio to take her home and confronts him for not trusting her enough to tell her the truth. She also advises Giorgio to tell Enrico the truth. In a flashback, we see that Giorgio had told Elena he would come clean to Enrico. However, Elena wanted them to run away and got mad when he got hesitant. Meanwhile, Vanessa wonders if Elena did what she wanted and ran away. 

The next morning, Vera gets into a fight with her mom after she stole the grocery money. She gets into another fight with Vanessa over what happened at the party the night before. Vera says some harsh things that hurt Vanessa. She later meets with Chiara to show her the messages left on Elena’s social media posts. She runs into Melissa, who complains about Giorgio’s attitude. Vanessa suggests that Melissa talk to Giorgio directly. 

Meanwhile, Enrico, Giorgio, Giancarlo, and Enrico meet to discuss how to raise awareness about Elena’s missing situation. Vanessa calls and tells them about her meeting with Chiara. She advises Enrico to inform Elena’s parents before posting a message asking for help. Enrico meets with Elena’s parents and Elena’s mom agrees it is good to ask for help. However, Elena’s dad is not convinced she is missing and wants to forget the whole thing. In the end, he agrees to let Elena’s mom do what she likes. 

At the restaurant, Diletta welcomes Claudio, an old friend. Diana shows him some attitude when he asks about her career choices. Diana wants to be a doctor and is not happy to replace Elena as a waiter. Outside, Christian tries to give Vera some money since Giorgio mentioned they are struggling after she took their grocery money.

The gang meets up to put flyers across the town. Enrico is not pleased when Vanessa mentions that Elena wanted to leave for Rome. He is not happy that Giorgio opted to look for work instead of helping them. In a flashback, we see his conversation with Elena. She got angry when he refused to run away.  

Later that night, Vanessa gets into a fight with Giancarlo when he brings up their Mykonos trip. She accuses him of being inconsiderate, but he insists that Elena is coming back. At home, Giorgio asks her what she said to Melissa. He begs her not to reveal his secret relationship with Elena.

In the meantime, Chiara and her partner, D’Angelo, continue working on the case. They find it strange that Elena checked Enrico’s location on the night she disappeared. They also have to wait for the IT team to recover Elena’s messages since all the messages on her phone were deleted. 

At Diletta’s house, Diana continues to wrestle with her self-confidence. Vanessa tries to stay calm and get back to her life. She decides to go to the fair with Giancarlo. However, the messages from a troll account dampen her mood. She texts the account back, but the other party never reveals their identity.

On the other hand, Chiara interviews Enrico to reconstruct Elena’s last day. She is surprised when Enrico says the tracking app was Elena’s dad’s idea. Enrico denies that Elena was cheating on him. As the day progresses, D’ Angelo reports to Chiara that the troll account belongs to Melissa. Chiara confronts Melissa since this is not the first time she has got into trouble. She had to move towns and change schools when she falsely accused someone of stalking her. Melissa says she opened the account for fun and it is not illegal.

At the fair, Melissa confronts Giorgio, and he says he is stressed. She seduces him and they head back to his place. However, Giorgio is not feeling it and she suggests he thinks of someone else he wants to sleep with. Giorgio thinks of Elena and loses control. He gets aggressive and Melissa tries to stop him. After a short while, she screams and pushes him off her. Meanwhile, Vera gets high at the club and Christian comes to her rescue. They grab some food and talk for a while.  

The episode ends with Giancarlo and Vanessa hearing police sirens while at the fair. They follow the cars to the school and find the police putting Elena in a body bag. She starts crying and Chiara asks Giancarlo to take her away. 

The Episode Review

We had hoped for a different outcome for Elena, but the last scene confirmed our worst fears. Someone brutally killed her and dumped her body at the school. It is a sad conclusion to her missing case. Vanessa is beside herself with shock and grief, but Giancarlo doesn’t seem too shocked. Now that the case has become a murder investigation, Chiara and D’ Angelo will need to work harder to find the killer.  Will Vanessa continue to keep Elena’s affair with Giorgio a secret?
