A Bloody Lucky Day – Episode 10 Recap, Review & Ending Explained

Should This Life Sometimes Deceive You

Episode 10 of A Bloody Lucky Day starts with Oh Taek overlooking a river under a bridge. Inside the back seat of the taxi is Byeong-min’s wife, tied up and unconscious. Elsewhere, Se-na wakes up in an unfamiliar room and sees something covered up at the other end. Before she can check it out, she hears Byeong-min enter and pretends to be unconscious.

Byeong-min starts pouring gas on her and around the room, but before he can set the room on fire, he gets a call from his father-in-law and steps out. He tells Byeong-min that his wife never made it home and is not answering their calls. While still on call, he gets a message from his wife. Colour drains from his face when he sees the photos of his wife tied up and unconscious. He lies to his father-in-law, saying the messages were not from her.

Did Oh Taek Kill Byeong-min’s wife?

Oh Taek calls Byeong-min and tells him that he will make him feel as much pain as he did when he killed his daughter and Chae-ri by killing his wife and the baby inside her. Byeong-min tells Oh Taek not to touch his son, and he asks if a child means a lot to a guy like him. Oh Taek asks him to tell his wife how many people he killed and takes the gag from her mouth. She screams into the phone, asking Byeong-min to tell her if she killed people.

Byeong-min is speechless and feels helpless. Byeong-min hears his wife begging Oh Taek not to kill him, and he tells him that Chae-ri is alive. Oh Taek pauses since he does not believe him. He says that he will send her back as long as he does not touch his son. Oh Taek gives him one hour to take Chae-ri to the garage where Seung-hyun and Joo-hwan work. If Chae-ri is not in the shop in one hour, he will kill his wife.

Oh, Taek calls Seung-hyun and tells him to stay at the shop and that he will call him one hour later. One hour later, Oh Taek called back, and the police tried tracing the call location. Since Chae-ri is not at the shop yet, Oh Taek concludes that Byeong-min has killed her. He tells them that he will take revenge for them. The police try to track Oh Taek to stop him from killing Hyun-ji, but Joo-hwan knocks the tracking equipment over and chases them out.

Oh Taek tells Byeong-min’s wife how he killed his daughter and Chae-ri, who was pregnant like her. He apologises to Hyun-ji and tells her it is only fair if he also feels the same loss. He covers the taxi and starts pushing it into the water while muffled screams are heard from Hyun-ji’s wife inside the car. With every step and every push into the water, mixed feelings are evident on Oh Taek’s face.

However, he is not a ruthless killer like Byeong-min, so he does not kill her. He stops at the last minute, unties her and apologises before leaving. Hyun-ji tells him that she will never forgive him for trying to kill her but still helps him with a location where he might find Byeong-min.

What happens when Oh Taek finds Byeong-min?

The location that Hyun-ji gives Oh Taek is the same one where he killed his daughter. After losing Chae-ri and Se-na, Byeong-mi returns to the location and throws things around furiously, and Oh Taek finds him in this state. Byeong-min tries to get under Oh Taek’s skin by mocking him about being a killer, but Oh Taek shows no reaction. His face is blank, without any feelings or any emotions. Meanwhile, the police found a possible location in Paju where Byeong-min could be found.

Oh Taek tells Byeong-min that he has killed his wife and son and is now going to kill him. They start fighting, and Byeong-min easily gets the upper hand and becomes arrogant. He plays Oh Taek a recording of her voice when she says that her father will come for her, and in his arrogance, he does not notice Oh Taek pick a brisk and knocks him on the head.

Oh Taek starts by taking Byeong-min’s eyes and then starts stabbing him all over his body. Byeong-min lies helpless on the floor, and Oh Taek is ready to finish him when Joong-min arrives. He starts begging Oh Taek not to kill Byeong-min but not to save the killer but to save Oh Taek.

Oh Taek does not listen to Joong-min, but the voice of Seung-hyun begging him not to kill Byeong-min stops him. Byeong-min starts laughing, mocking Oh Taek. Oh Taek decides not to stab him but jumps from an upper floor with Byeong-min. They both lay unconscious on a pile of construction waste below the building.

What happened to Chae-ri and Sena?

While Byeong-min steps outside the room to talk to his father-in-law, Se-na wakes Chae-ri but soon pretends to be unconscious. Byeong-min gets back inside and tries to wake Chae-ri up. The girls work together. Se-na sprays Byeong-min with pepper spray, and when he is distracted, they run out of the room. However, Byeong-min is too strong, and he knocks both girls down when they try to lock him inside the room. Byeong-min drags Se-na back into the room, but she threatens him with an electric lamp. The floor was covered in gas, and if she threw the lamp on the ground, the sparks would cause a fire.

Byeong-min thinks that Se-na does not have the guts to light the floor on fire since she will also be in danger. He tries to talk her into giving in when he sees he is at a disadvantage, saying he will forgive her. However, Se-na is not naïve. She sets the floor on fire and runs out. Byeong-min runs and tries to go after her, but Chae-ri, waiting outside the door, knocks him with a metal object. The girls run out, and Byeong-min delays running after them to extinguish the fire. Meanwhile, the police arrive at the garage, and Joo-hwan tells them that Byeong-min had gone to the shop, claiming his car had problems with the brakes while it was perfectly fine.

Se-na and Chae-ri run into the woods and hide from Byeong-min, who is driving around looking for them. Chae-ri is overwhelmed and starts crying loudly, alerting Byeong-min of their location. They start running with renewed energy when they see him, but they arrive at a cliff and hesitate. Byeong-min catches up and starts pulling Chae-ri, causing them both to trip and fall down the cliff, but they both survive.

Does Byeong-min pay for his crimes?

The police search Byeong-min’s house and find thirteen pictures of his victims in the safe with Hyun-ji’s help. Byeong-min appears in a court of law for the verdict and is found guilty of all his crimes. The request by his attorney for commutation for temporary insanity and mental illness is rejected, and he is given the death sentence. Byeong-min loses it after the verdict and is carried out of court. His mother tries to poison him, but he catches on and does not eat the cake, telling her that trying to kill a child she gave birth to is cheating. He tells her to go and not come back.

What happens to Oh Taek?

Oh Taek wakes up in the hospital and learns that Chae-ri and Se-na are safe. Oh Taek goes to prison but is released a few years later. Oh Taek joins Joo-hwan, his wife, Seung-hyun, Chae-ri, and his granddaughter at the beach. The family is happy, and Oh Taek is back to himself.

How does A Bloody Lucky Day end?

At the end of the episode, Oh Taek drives around the city in his new taxi. He imagines images of Soon-kyu and her son Yoon-ho happily chatting at the back of the car and driving past his wife and daughter having coffee, chatting, and laughing at a coffee shop. He smiles contentedly and continues to drive along over a bridge.

The Episode Review

The episode takes viewers on a thrilling adventure through the showdown between the taxi driver, Oh Taek, and the serial killer, Lee Byeong-min. One thing that stands out is that Oh Taek does not let himself become the victim anymore. He understood that Byeong-min was a psychopath and did not let himself play his game. The episode was all about payback, and watching Byeong-min get a taste of the horror he inflicts on others was thrilling.

The episode perfectly wraps up the intense ride, showing that Oh Taek could be ruthless enough but still letting him remain humane enough not to kill Hyun-ji. As we have been looking forward to throughout the episode, the bad guy gets punished for his crimes, which is satisfactory. In addition, Oh Taek gets a chance at a happy life. Realistically, he serves his time in prison for the laws he broke in search of revenge. What did you think about the ending of A Bloody Lucky Day?
