Two More Bite The Dust
6ixtynin9 episode 3 starts with the board members of the insurance company Toom used to work for voting on whether to shut down the company. Ultimately, they decide to use fortune sticks to help make a decision. After playing the random game, they decide to continue.
One of the board members has a meeting with Tong, also known as Suwat and informs him of the current situation. The board member explains that the company lacks sufficient funds to pay the recently fired workers their compensation. The company has decided to give only six of those workers a compensation of 50,000 bhat. Of course, this is illegal, but they want Tong to help them smoothen the issue with the workers.
Meanwhile, Toom visits Kanchit to ask for his services. Kanchit makes fake passports, visas and has his hands in a lot of illegal activities. He is a jack of all trades when it comes to making an illegal living. He is surprised that Toom, who looks so calm and innocent, is in need of a fake visa.
Toom doesn’t say much; only asks for the price of the services. Kanchit gives her his price, and she notes it is a bit expensive. Kanchit explains how the business works to her, and she agrees to pay the amount. He asks her to pay half the amount and return at 10 p.m. to pay the rest and pick up the new passport and visa.
Elsewhere, Jim and John are busy making love. Jim lives in the same building as Toom. John is her boyfriend, who occasionally visits. However, the most important thing to note about John is that he is a cop. After sex, Jim notices that John is distracted and asks what is going on. John says it is a government secret, and he is not allowed to tell anyone.
He asks her to wait until tomorrow to find out with everyone else. Jim tries her best to seduce him, but John ain’t no snitch!
Back at Toom’s apartment, Deaf and Samanrg are searching for clues to what happened to Bum. The phone rings, and Deaf picks it up. They get into a minor squabble since Samarng is angry that Deaf picked up the phone. They quietly leave and correct the door sign on their way out.
After her meeting with Kanchit, Toom heads to the market and buys some big sisal chest. She claims she wants to put some books in them. She fails to notice that someone is watching her from afar.
After Deaf and Samarg leave, another man sneaks into Toom’s apartment. He makes himself feel at home and freely smokes and uses the toilet. When he tries to flush the toilet, he comes across the money Toom hid in the toilet tank.
Before he can do anything, Toom arrives with her delivery man, who helps her get the sisal chest into the house. The other man quickly hides in one of the closets, and Toom doesn’t notice anything strange until later.
The man in the closet watches as Toom places the two bodies she had hidden in her other closet into the sisal chest. Toom heads to the bathroom and notices the cigarette in her toilet. She grabs a knife and starts looking around. She is about to uncover the man hidden in the closet when John knocks on her door. She hurriedly tries to cover the sisal chest, which is still open, before opening the door.
John asks to come in and explains he needs to use her balcony to spy on the house next door. He is hoping to catch Tud and his friends in the middle of a drug-filled party and arrest them. He believes the arrest will help further his career, and he will be famous. As they talk, he notices something is off and lifts the sheet on the sisal chest after seeing a leg poking out.
After seeing the dead body, he draws his gun and orders Toom to get on the ground. He starts inspecting the apartment, and as he gets to the closet, the man draws out his gun and shoots. They both shoot simultaneously and kill each other. Now, Toom has four bodies in her house.
Meanwhile, Tud and Milli are still at M’s house. Tud believes he heard gunshots, but one of the revellers insists that the sound is from his game. They carry on partying, and M works on Milli’s tattoo. They are unaware of the bodies dropping like flies in Toom’s apartment.
On the other hand, Tong is busy delivering compensation to the six selected ex-employees. He starts with one who just buried his dad. He explains that it is best to accept the 50,000 Bhat since the company might file for bankruptcy and will end up with nothing. He asks the young man not to tell the other workers.
Back to Toom, she decides to hide the two fresh bodies in her bathroom. She is busy when Jim knocks on her door to ask for fish sauce. She has guests over and needs the fish sauce. Toom says is a bad time and promises to bring the fish sauce later. Jim misunderstands when Toom says she is working from home and is busy with her boyfriend.
After hiding the bodies in the bathroom and cleaning up the bloody mess, Toom takes the sauce to Jim. She meets Jim’s friends, and they talk about Jim’s boyfriend. Toom feels nauseated when she realizes the dead cop hidden in her bathroom is John, Jim’s boyfriend. She quickly excuses herself. She heads out, and another man sneaks into her apartment. The man is looking for Sompan, the man who was hiding in Toom’s closet.
Concurrently, Kanchit realizes that Toom used to work for Tong. He starts suspecting that she is working for Tong and took the money under his orders. He even believes she dropped by his place to spy and not get the fake passport. He plans his next move and gets his men ready. He orders Wiroj to grab Toom when she arrives to pick up the passport and bring her back to her apartment.
In the meantime, the spirits of Sompan and John are escorted to the afterlife. Sompan is remorseful for killing John. John is angry that he died before becoming famous; he blames Sompan for killing him before his time.
Back to Toom she goes back to the market to buy two more sisal chests. Deaf and Samarng sneakily take photos of her. On her way back, Toom gets a call from Tong, and he asks to meet her at a local cafe. Once they meet, he gives his boring speech about the company, bankruptcy and the compensation.
Toom asks him to give the money to someone else. She says she has won the lottery and doesn’t need it. Deaf and Samarng continue to spy on her and are now convinced she is working with Tong to defraud Kanchit.
The Episode Review
Man Trisanu Soranun was this episode’s highlight; seeing him was good. It is unfortunate he died before making his big arrest. We had hoped to see more of him as the series progressed, but he got shot dead.
On the other hand, things keep getting worse for Toom. Is the million Bhat worth all of this trouble? It would have been better if she had returned it and continued maintaining her low-risk life. She has two gangster groups coming for her.
A dead cop in her bathroom, and by the looks of it, she is unaware of the real danger she is in. The best part about 6ixtynin9 is how it has maintained the perfect balance between thriller and comedy. The use of deadpan humour comes across effortlessly.
