Hinamatsuri is a show with incredible comedic timing, likable characters, and a rich world. This is another anime with a plot revolving around crude adults using innocent Espers to fulfill their nefarious needs. Although the humor’s more exaggerated in Mob Psycho 100, Hinamatsuri’s comedic gags and jokes will make anyone chuckle.

Our tale follows Yoshifumi Izumi, a yakuza member who monitors the life of a mysterious girl named Hina. She comes out of a strange capsule before meeting him. Izumi sees her powers unravel before his eyes after she helps him defeat a rival yakuza group. Both shows place their protagonists in relatable situations. One Punch Man

Similarities – Same Author

Same author aside, One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100 are ideal companion pieces everyone needs to watch. Although Saitama’s power comes from brute force, both characters are insanely powerful and provide their series with excellent, well-timed humor. The humor in this show stems from quick visual gags to quirky jokes that poke fun at the surrounding characters.

As for the action, Mob Psycho 100 fans can expect the same from One Punch Man regarding highly stylized fights to fluid movement. Characters move at light speeds in this anime, and the production studio at Madhouse did a phenomenal job of demonstrating those feats in motion. Fans will appreciate the effort and passion that went into crafting these scenes.

Saitama and Mob aside, both series wonderfully build up the other characters and the world. While some villains in One Punch Man serve as measuring sticks, many of Saitama’s allies offer incredible abilities and personalities that help them stand out. If you’re looking for another action-packed world to seek your teeth into, One Punch Man has you covered.

My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia

Similarities – Weak-Minded Protagonist & Super Powers

My Hero Academia offers a visually stunning world with impactful characters. Like Mob Psycho 100, it follows a story about a boy who has trouble controlling his powers. These adolescents desire to protect others but carry weak-minded ideologies that hold them back. My Hero Academia is more superhero focused than Mob Psycho 100, though.

This anime features a boatload of characters from the get-go, too. Each character introduced in My Hero Academia comes equipped with abilities, problems, and goals. While most of them get treated as comic relief, many characters receive enough screen time that helps them stand out to most viewers. You’ll find yourself liking more than three characters in this show, regardless of their heroic or villainous status.

My Hero Academia’s bouts are on par with what you’d expect from Mob Psycho 100. Characters throw hard punches and kicks while slamming their enemies. This anime is an action fan’s dreamland and will keep your eyes glued to the screen. Mob Psycho 100 fans looking for more action-packed shows should give My Hero Academia a shot.

Jujutsu Kaisen

Similarities – Beautiful Animation & Supernatural Theme

Jujutsu Kaisen is a breakout series from Shōnen Jump that captured many fans with its stunning visuals, memorable characters, and supernatural setting. Jujutsu Kaisen’s Yuuji and Gojou have a master and student relationship as Mob and Arataka. These pairs work off each other brilliantly, and their interactions make the show feel authentic and worth watching.

The animation in Jujutsu Kaisen is as fluid as a river stream. Fans will be bewildered by how the characters move on the screen and will enjoy the fight choreography inserted in it. Both series utilize their supernatural aspects well. Jujutsu Kaisen’s world is full of charm and wonder, and fans will be delighted to know that it has a unique battle system akin to Naruto’s Chakra and Hunter X Hunter’s Nen system.

Therefore, if you’re looking for another supernatural storyline with a great deal of action and charm, I’d suggest giving Jujutsu Kaisen a watch.

FLCL

Similarities – Bizarre Characters & World

Are you trying to find another supernatural show with off-the-wall humor and a nonsensical atmosphere; FLCL might be the show you’ve been craving. Like Mob Psycho 100, FLCL explores the notion of what it means to be popular and mature. It does so by pairing its male protagonist Naota with various authority figures who’ll get him wrapped up in mind-numbing and physical conflicts.

It’s worth noting that FLCL doesn’t outright inform the audience of this idea like Mob Psycho 100 does. Instead, the audience must piece together this thought themselves using the mishaps Naota involves himself in as clues toward that hypothesis. Otherwise, fans will find FLCL’s comedy and action entertaining and familiar.

FLCL contains different branches of humor, from slapstick to one-off jokes. While some jokes may not hit as hard as others, fans will find most of their absurdities entertaining. Thanks to the FLCL’s follow-up sequels, it offers a world that’s on par with Mob Psycho 100’s. If you’ve been searching for another anime with bonkers humor and incredible action then FLCL is worth a watch.

Ping Pong the Animation

Similarities – Exaggerated Art Style & Brilliant Animation

Ping Pong the Animation (Ping Pong) is a bizarre anime about two best friends named Peco and Smile. Both friends are gifted ping-pong players but come from different walks of life. While the former is a slacker, the latter comes off as a cautious and worrisome individual. Despite their distinct habits, these friends have developed an unbreakable bond.

Eventually, Peco endures a terrible loss and starts losing his passion for ping-pong. Although Peco and Smile’s coach offers to train Smile to overcome his hesitation, he is reluctant to play the sport if he can’t seek enjoyment from it. In an inter-high tournament where only the very top players can persevere, Peco and Smile struggle to find meaning in the sport.

The anime follows these friends’ journeys of hardship and perseverance. Smile’s characters will remind many fans of Mob, as he struggles to let his full potential loose. While Ping Pong’s art style appears more horrifying than delectable, its animation makes up for its with its fluidity and nuance. You’ll feel the intensity in players’ eyes as they swing their paddles in this show.

If you can look past its strange realistic art style, then you’re in for a treat with Ping Pong the Animation.

Noragami

Similarities – Supernatural, Characters, Action

Imagine yourself as a godly figure who needs to win people over to your faith by completing mundane and trivial tasks. That’s the type of lifestyle our protagonist Yato endures in Noragami. This series is full of laughs and incredible action-packed scenarios.

Like Mob Psycho 100, Noragami balances its comedy and action well. Yato may come across to some as a lovable goofball that’s not worth taking seriously. However, the show excellently subverts those expectations and gradually unveils Yato’s tragic and depressing past life. Not only that but Noragami’s fights shouldn’t be taken lightly as Yato and others will draw blood and suffer severe pain from these bouts.

That aside, Noragami is a great anime that offers a great mix of lighthearted and depressing content. Fans will laugh at his character’s failures and cheer them on when the time calls for it. If you’re searching for another supernatural gem with a goofy and serious atmosphere, give Norgami a shot.

Akira

Similarities – Psychic-Themed Characters & Colorful Worlds

Akira is a jaw-dropping spectacle that went on to influence many folks in the entertainment industry. While some may argue its source material is better than its film, many adore the movie for its amazing visuals and fluid animation. Likewise, Mob Psycho 100 and Akira aren’t too different from each other.

Both anime feature esper-themed characters fighting off numerous enemies that pose a threat to them or others. While Mob’s more heroic than Akira’s Tetsuo, these characters tend to snap, causing many people around them to suffer for their uncontrollable antics.

Fans will find it difficult to look away from this film’s visuals. There’s a lot to take in with this show from its car chase segments to Tetsuo’s utilization of his telekinetic powers. That said, Akira contains some portions of gore and nightmarish imagery that might be too disgusting to look at. With Akira, you’ll have a blast if you can look past its nightmarish instances.

Great Teacher Onizuka

Similarities – Master/Apprentice Relationships & Comedy

Great Teacher Onizuka delivers nonstop jokes and gag humor that will keep folks entertained. Unlike Mob Psycho 100, Great Teacher Onizuka is more realistic. Don’t anticipate characters to whip out any insane superpowers in this show. Expect to be floored by this show’s multiple comedic antics.

Onizuka tells the story of Eikichi, an ex-biker gang leader who yearns to marry a young woman before he grows old. He nails an opportunity as a high school teacher but ends up with a class full of delinquents. These students will try their hardest to get Eikichi fired.

When Onizuka deals with the root of his students’ problems, he will show them how fun school can be when a teacher like him is in charge. As stated earlier, Onizuka doesn’t contain any ounce of superpowers nor does it offer any impeccable animated sequences.

What it offers is a hilarious protagonist, who establishes a similar mentor and student relationship with his students as Arataka has with Mob. Fans will adore seeing Eikichi become this notable figure in his students’ lives and witnessing their growth alongside his.

Assassination Classroom

Assassination Classroom

Similarities – Characters & Themes

Following the trend of mentorship is Koro-sensei from Assassination Classroom. While his students are tasked to murder him, they’ll appreciate the life lessons and care Koro-sensei grants them. Koro-sensei’s companionship with his students steadily grows throughout Assassination Classroom.

The hilarious and charming antics Koro-sensei and his students engage in will delight Mob Psycho 100 fans. Furthermore, the show features some stellar action-packed scenes full of suspense. While the kids start off as novice assassins, Koro-sensei will try his best to turn them into skillful killers and proud academic scholars.

It’s worth mentioning that Assassination Classroom doesn’t spend a great amount of time fleshing out most of its student body. Some characters will receive more spotlight than others. Yet you’re guaranteed to find a favorite among the cast who’ll captivate you and keep you invested in this show’s plot.

If you enjoyed watching Mob and Arataka’s friendship grow and prosper, you’ll enjoy the heartwarming and saddening ride Assassination Classroom offers.
