Akame Ga Kill – Takehiro

Similarities – Fantasy-Setting, Characters, Action

Despite fans’ qualms with Akame Ga Kill’s anime adaptation, many argue the manga offers a better experience. Its handling of the battles, world, and characters feels more adequate in comparison. Like Seven Deadly Sins, we follow a group of super-powered humanoids who want to stop a higher power. This manga features a fantasy setting on par with Seven Deadly Sin’s environments.

Akame Ga Kill is known for being brutal work, especially when it comes to character deaths. From beheadings, hangings, and slaughters, horror and action fanatics will have a field day with this work. The artwork is stellar and the fights feel like they’re popping out of the page. Like anime, fans shouldn’t develop a strong connection with its characters. If you’re looking for a darker and less comedic version of the Seven Deadly Sins, check out Akame Ga Kill.

One Piece – Eichiro Oda

Similarities – Adventure, Action, Superpowers

One Piece is regarded as one of the best Shonen Jump titles ever. It’s a series fans adore for its countless twists, revelations, and epic battle sequences. One Piece’s world-building is extraordinary. You’ll find islands harboring giants and others that feel like they were ripped straight out of Walt Disney’s mind. Although it’s a long work, it’s worth your time.

One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy. He’s a young pirate who travels with other colorful characters across a vast ocean called the Grand Line. He hopes to find the Pirate King Gol D. Roger’s ancient treasure called the One Piece. By doing so, Luffy will become the new Pirate King of his universe. Seven Deadly Sins and One Piece evoke a strong sense of adventure.

One Piece feels better written than Seven Deadly Sins, though. The comedy is identical between both works. Our casts engage in amusing banter and share witty jokes with each other. For those who didn’t like Meliodas’s perverted antics with Elizabeth, you may not enjoy One Piece’s handling of sexual content. However, if you can overlook the manga’s sensual humor, then you’re in for a treat with this one.

Her determination to get stronger leads to some of the story’s notable moments. On that note, Yona of the Dawn spends enough time developing our cast and placing them in situations that will escalate their growth further.
