10 More Adventure Games Worth Your Time!

Naughty Dog is one of Sony’s top-tier developers and studios. They gave the company many hits like Crash Bandicoot and The Last of Us. Another worthwhile IP of theirs is the Uncharted franchise. This franchise blew people away with its realistic graphics, well-written cast, and engaging plots. Alongside the game’s clever puzzles and excellent third-person shooter gameplay elements, fans received four amazing Uncharted entries that hold up well.

If you’ve finished playing Uncharted and are looking for alternatives – fret not! We’ve combed through the archives and saved you the hassle with our top 10 picks.

Of course, for all the games we’ve reviewed, we’ve also added a handy link, so you can check out our full thoughts on that and see if it’s something you want to invest your time in.

So without further ado, we present 10 games to check out if you’re looking for a game like Uncharted.

Horizon Zero Dawn

Horizon Zero Dawn boasts excellent gameplay, beautiful imagery, and a delightful world rich in lore and futuristic technology. In it, players control Aloy, who embarks on a quest to avenge her deceased caretaker. Aloy will meet many people who’ll impact the way she thinks about herself and the world she traverses through.

Like Uncharted, this game features some nifty puzzles and intruiging plot threads. Horizon Zero Dawn entices players to climb up hills and craft materials to increase their inventory space. The game introduces many menacing bosses that’ll be difficult to defeat at first. However you advance further into the plot, you’ll eventually be strong enough to take down these powerful foes.

From its engaging plot to its excellent gameplay, Horizon Zero Dawn offers players an intriguing mechanized world that’s worth your investment.

The Last of Us

The Last of Us is a remarkable adventure game. It offers fans a heartbreaking narrative, a well-written cast, and fun gameplay that’ll help you stay engaged. Like Uncharted, this game offers powerful cinematics that’ll leave you speechless and occasionally teary-eyed. The game’s become such a massive hit that it received a follow-up sequel and a television show that’s airing as I write this.

The game takes place in a ravaged civilization where mankind has almost perished due to a strange plague. In it, players follow Joel and his 14-year-old companion, Ellie, on a gutwrenching adventure that will leave players terrified, concerned, and emotionally broken. The game features compelling platform segments and some fun third-person shooter action set pieces.

The game’s puzzles aren’t as challenging as Uncharted’s, though. However, the game’s storytelling is on par if not better than what you’d find in the Uncharted entries. If you’re looking for a fun horror game with excellent cutscenes, fun gameplay, and well-rounded characters, pick up The Last of Us.

The Tomb Raider Reboot Series

Tomb Raider is a household gaming franchise in the industry. It may not be as popular as it used to be, but it features some fun platforming and puzzle-solving gameplay fans love from the Uncharted franchise. Both games feature protagonists who traverse through several ancient locations and encounter numerous enemies that’ll stand in their path.

Uncharted feels more cinematic than Tomb Raider, to an extent. The Tomb Raider reboot titles like Rise and Shadow of the Tomb Raider aim for the same cinematic experience, despite lacking in some areas. The first game of the reboot trilogy suffered from having too many quick-time events while other titles lacked varied settings.

Regardless, Uncharted fans will enjoy Lara’s character and the consequences she faces. If you enjoyed the Uncharted series and need another game that evokes a similar sense of adventure, check out the Tomb Raider reboot series.

God of War: Ragnarok

With the massive popularity the first God of War reboot game received, it made sense for Sony to dish out another title for fans to seek their teeth into. God of Ragnarok is a wonderful entry that surprised many newcomers and old fans alike. This is one of those rare occasions, where a sequel exceeds fan expectations and delivers something truly astonishing.

It has magnificent tight-knit gameplay, satisfying fights, and gorgeous visuals. You’ll be enamored by the amount of effort that Santa Monica Studios put into the game’s environments, dialogue, and characters. The storytelling is great and the voice talent brought their A-game with this one. It’ll leave you craving more after you’ve finished your playthrough of it. If you adored Uncharted for its cast and story, you’re sure to fall in love with the God of War reboot’s direction for Kratos.

Quantum Break

Quantum Break

Quantum Break is a fast-paced action-centric adventure game. It’s a great alternative that places you in control of a character with time-bending abilities. You’ll use these powers to avoid damage and identify opponents. The game features some platforming hurdles for you to overcome and some third-person shooter action like Uncharted.

Unfortunately, Uncharted fans won’t find its protagonist embarking on treasure-hunting quests. Instead, you’ll be pursuing another character like yourself to prevent time from ruining the universe you inhabit. The game’s also attached to a television show that gives you more insight into the game’s cast and its world.

The game’s live-action segments can feel jarring, despite being unique for a title like this. Nevertheless, if you’re looking for an enjoyable story-rich action game with great graphics and gameplay, this one’s worth checking out.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is an outstanding action-adventure game that anyone can pick up and play. The game’s recognized for having beautiful visuals, a gripping narrative, and fabulous time-altering mechanics that entice players to continue playing. The game also features some tough-as-nails platforming sections that will aggravate you.

Thankfully, you can rewind time to overwrite the mistakes you make during these sections. In it, players control the prince who must embark on a quest with the vizier and a woman named Farah to redo his time-altering blade’s mistakes. The story is enticing but often takes a backseat to The Sands of Time’s incredible gameplay.

Like Uncharted, you’ll need to overcome numerous enemies and overcome various hurdles to advance the plot. The game’s world may look open, but it’s fully linear, making it easy for players to know what to accomplish. The prince’s interactions with the game’s areas feel realistic and immersive. If you adore Uncharted for its settings and traversal elements then you’ll love Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Just Cause 4

Just Cause 4 is an action-adventure title with realistic visuals, comedic instances and dialogue, and fun action-packed gameplay elements. It echoes the feeling fans get while watching an amusing secret agent flick. You’ll love seeing the game’s protagonist perform heroic stunts throughout the game.

Traversing the game’s environment is exciting. You can visit many remote locations by using different vehicles and gadgets. From parachutes to grappling hooks, there are a lot of devices at the player’s disposal. Many of these devices are essential in helping you conquer the game’s missions, though. It’ll also help you get to locations quicker than typical vehicles.

The game includes multiple unlockable items and achievements for players to complete. These aspects will keep players returning to the game as the additional content will add to your enjoyment. Check out Just Cause 4 if you’re looking for a funny and enjoyable action-adventure game to play after Uncharted.

Red Dead Redemption 2

For something more serious, I’d recommend Red Dead Redemption 2. While you won’t be fighting crime and descending on enemies with a parachute, this game offers remarkable storytelling and drama that will keep you interested. In it, we follow Arthur Morgan. He’s an outlaw and gang member. He’s forced to survive in this western setting involving government forces, rival gangs, and crazed locals.

Completing Arthur’s story allows players to control the game’s former protagonist John Marston in a satisfying epilogue chapter. Nonetheless, fans shouldn’t overlook Arthur and the new cast members in Red Dead Redemption 2. These characters carry interesting yet tragic backstories that will make players empathetic toward them.

The game’s terrain is equally impressive and contains multiple missions for you to complete. Players can expect to chase after stagecoaches, robbing trains, and get drunk with locals. If you want an action-adventure game that’s set in the wild wild west, Red Dead Redemption’s worth your time.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a story-rich action-adventure game that features iconic members from the crew from Peter to Groot. The characters receive great depth throughout the game and leave a significant impression on players. Even comical characters like Rocket and Drax will surprise people with their emotional story beats.

The gameplay’s nothing to write home about. Players must endure many run-and-gun, platforming, and puzzle-solving segments. Some boss fights are sprinkled into the game to keep things interesting. Everything factors in to create a wonderful experience for players. Even though the game’s played through Peter’s perspective, you’ll grow attached to the other cast members.

The game will take you roughly 18 hours to complete. If you’re up for the challenge, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is worth your hard-earned time.

Assassin’s Creed 2

Assassin’s Creed 2 is one of Assassin’s Creed’s best entries regarding storytelling, characters, and gameplay. In it, players control Desmond who relives his ancestor Ezio Auditore’s memories via a machine called the Animus,. He hopes to put a stop to the Assassin-Templar feud that reared its head in the first game.

Furthermore, fans can look forward to seeing how Ezio’s quest for vengeance turns out in the game, too. It’s a nonlinear game with great hack-and-slash and stealth-like combat. You’ll monitor your enemies via the rooftops or by wandering through crowds. However, if you engage with your enemies at random intervals, you’ll cause a crowd of people to panic.

This results in players needing to repeat the mission. The game’s cinematics isn’t as epic as Uncharted’s but contains some genuinely decent dialogue to keep players engaged. If you’re looking for a fun action-adventure game that will make you feel like a skillful assassin, I’d recommend playing Assassin’s Creed 2.
