Ever since the franchise’s debut in 2014, audiences from around the world have been captivated by the stunning performances and emotional impact of the John Wick films. From the action-packed fight scenes to the thrilling and mysterious stories, John Wick movies have yet to disappoint. And the same can be said for the latest blockbuster, “John Wick 4.” Since the first movie-goers left the theatre on March 24th 2023, there has been endless talk surrounding one specific scene.
The climax of the film left most of its audience in shock and awe, with most describing it as everything they wanted and more. In fact, it sparked such heated discussion that it’s likely to be argued about until the release of the next John Wick film, should there be one.
The film is built around a final duel between John Wick, and his opponent Marquis De Gramont. In which John has the chance to finally achieve his freedom, meaning he will no longer be targeted by The High Table. But with Marquis living up to his villainous reputation, he attempts to send countless assassins to kill John before their fight. He also gets John’s old companion, Caine, to turn on him by threatening the life of his daughter.
With all of Marquis’ attempts on John’s life failing, they both end up at the battle. This supposed ‘final duel’ is set to happen in view of Paris’ wonderous Eiffel Tower. John ends up winning the fight but does not come out without severe injuries. And after muttering the name of his wife, John takes his last breaths on the steps of the Sacré-Coeur.
