Popular as a hilarious, one-of-a-kind hidden camera series, Impractical Jokers has been entertaining audiences since 2011. The Jokers, Joe Gatto, James “Murr” Murray, Brian “Q” Quinn, and Sal Vulcano, each bring a special flavour to the show with their distinctive personalities, and many can relate to them even though the tasks they undertake are ‘impractically’ rare in real life.
The show’s humour has won over millions of fans worldwide, and it’s not hard to see why. In this article, we’ll take a look at the 10 best Impractical Jokers episodes that will have you laughing your head off. As usual, you can drop your thoughts in the comments below:
“Strip High Five” (Season 2, Episode 5)
This episode is a prime example of the Impractical Jokers’ willingness to push the boundaries of what is socially acceptable for the sake of a good laugh. The episode features a number of cool pranks, but it’s the reactions of the unsuspecting strangers that really make this episode shine, from awkward high-fives to confused looks of disbelief.
The standout however is the punishment where Joe and Murr have a standoff to get away without having to bare it all in a busy public area. In the end, the sheer commitment to the prank is well-proven. Despite the obvious discomfort, they never break character and manage to keep the laughs coming from start to finish.
“The Permanent Punishment” (Season 3, Episode 26)
One of the things that make Impractical Jokers so entertaining is the punishments that the losers of the challenge are subjected to. In this episode, the jokers played the balloon tournament. When Q, Murr, and Sal lost, they all had to get embarrassing tattoos mindfully chosen by Joe.
Q gets a tattoo of a cat with the words “38, lives alone, has 3 cats” underneath. Murr gets a tattoo of a ferret skydiving, which is a reference to his famous moment in the episode “Look Out Below.” Worst of all, Sal gets a tattoo of Jaden Smith.
“Impractical Jokers: British Invasion” (Special Episode)
Sometimes, the best episodes of Impractical Jokers are the ones where the guys take their antics on the road. In this special episode, the guys travel to London and team up with their British counterparts, the Tenderloins UK. The resulting challenges are some of the funniest in the show’s history, with highlights including a bit in a crowded pub and a hilarious attempt to sell bottled “British air” to tourists.
The episode is especially interesting because of the camaraderie between the two teams. Watching them work together to pull off these outrageous pranks is a joy to watch and is a testament to the enduring appeal of the Impractical Jokers franchise.
“Bathroom Break” (Season 4, Episode 14)
The show’s ability to find humour in the most mundane situations is unrivalled, and this episode is a perfect example of that. In the first part of this episode, the guys pose as auto parts salesmen to shoppers at the mall. The challenge is to simply do what they are told. In one instance, Sal is told to sniff a random person and say “smelled like b*tch in here”.
Similarly, other challenges in the episode are so outrageous that it’s hard not to laugh. And, the reactions of people around are priceless ranging from confusion to outright disgust, and make this episode one of the best in the show’s history.
“No Good Deed” (Season 7, Episode 3)
Some of the show’s funniest moments come from when the guys try to pitch ideas for products, technology, and TV shows, etc. In this episode, the goal is to get the most votes for their idea for a TV show, but of course, no idea is worth listening to unless you want to laugh.
The losers of the challenge are made to pitch ridiculous ideas to charity donors on what they would do with their money. As you can imagine, the bit ends in a lot of awkwardness, confusion, and laughter.
“Virtual Insanity” (Season 5, Episode 15)
This episode features various challenges that induce chaos. At one point, the guys begin to play a game of catch with a bunch of groceries in a supermarket. This episode also features a hilarious skit where the jokers try to get strangers’ signatures for some ridiculous causes.
The punishment in the end made the episode all the more special. The loser of the challenge, who is easily scared, is locked in a room and forced to play a horror game with a virtual reality headset. His expressions and scares are watchable.
“X-Man” (Season 6, Episode 7)
This episode of Impractical Jokers is a special one. The guys start off with their typical shenanigans in each other’s art classes. The reactions of the young students are funny enough, but when Q is told to paint a big red “X” on one kid’s artwork, it becomes even more hilarious.
When Q refuses to do this, he is then told that he now has to draw an X on every child’s art piece. While this was an improvised part of the episode, it really ties the whole thing together and shows us why this series is so great.
“Who’s Phone Is Ringing?” (Season 5, Episode 11)
As you may be able to guess from the episode’s title, this one brings us some incredible reactions from the jokers’ unsuspecting victims.
In this episode, the highlight is its ingenious punishment which forces Sal to attend a book reading while having a constantly ringing phone. At one point, one of the other women in the club takes it upon herself to turn off Sal’s phone. Naturally, the jokers instructed Sal to turn the phone back on so they could continue messing with the attendees.
“Like A Boss” (Season 7, Episode 16)
If you like some of the more cringe-worthy but hilarious episodes in Impractical Jokers, this one’s for you. This episode features Murr attending a Tumblr meeting dressed as a hipster. Murr, who is seated near the back of the group, starts off by shouting “Like A Boss,”.
As he is told to repeat the line over and over again and continue making childish comments, attendees in the meeting eventually message on Slack to have security escort Murr from the building. At this point, Murr murmurs “I’m on Slack too, I can see what you’re doing,” which resulted in a lot of awkwardness, and of course, a lot of laughs. One of the guys puts his phone back into his pocket.
“Look Out Below” (Season 3, Episode 1)
A very popular episode of Impractical Jokers is “Look Out Below.” This episode starts out with the guys pretending to be bellhops at a hotel. Joe begins mooning the neighbours and playing around on the floor like a dog. Murr randomly unpacks his guest’s bags. And Q leaves to use the bathroom mid-conversation.
When Murr is declared the loser of this challenge, he is forced to go skydiving… with a tremendous fear of heights. With him screaming and freaking out the entire time, this punishment has to be one of the funniest of the series.
