The punishment segment on Impractical Joker has a fan following of its own. Majorly cringeworthy, the segment is known to be ridiculous, hysterically bizarre, and something that can leave a permanent mark on each of the Jokers. Every punishment is unique in how they parade the losing joker, however, the core soul in each of them always remains intact.

Whose phone is ringing?
Sal, the losing Joker, is made to attend a book reading session surrounded by real book buffs. The stipulation: Sal can’t pick up his phone no matter how many times it rings. What’s worse, the ringtone lyrics go, “Whose phone is ringing? It’s mine, mine.” The Jokers behind the plot keep calling him, and the session gets interrupted on more than several occasions.
Consequently, people get so annoyed that a lady in attendance turns off his phone. But, he needs to turn it back on. Somehow he pulls through, however, ultimately, when it’s his turn to do the reading, the phone buzzes again and the crowd bursts out in laughter.
Anything goes under the table
Murr can pull off presentations blindfolded, however, when his bad friends have full access to his lower half while he is delivering one, it’s a whole different ballgame. As Murr is explaining climate crisis to a class, the guys are under the table doing their best to make the presenter look like a buffoon with a tie on.
His shoes are replaced with high heels, his pants are cut short, and a girl even emerges out of nowhere to make the entire bit all the more bizarre.
Strip High Five
After Joe and Murr both lose the episode, they are arranged a punishment more humiliating than anything we have ever seen on the show. They are made to stand in the middle of a busy street taking turns, asking passersby for a high five. Every time the stranger refuses, one article of clothing needs to come off.
The punishment gets real intense towards the end with both the losing Jokers down to their underpants only. Finally, one of them has to bare it all in the end.
Killin’ science
As a punishment, Joe is put in front of science enthusiasts where he is required to express his opinion on the latest scientific developments. The other Jokers join him in the panel to enjoy witnessing Joe crack under scientific pressure.
Every question the presenter asks goes right into the lap of the clueless Joe, and the poor man has to resort to nothing but nonsense blabbering to get to the next one. Towards the end, Joe rips science so bad that the audience easily deduces it’s a Joker posing as a rocket scientist.
Messing with the voice
Murr is to give a speech for punishment. This time, however, there isn’t much wrong with the speech, it’s only his voice that is messed with. Attached to the microphone are two pipes containing Sulphur Hexafluoride for his voice to go low and Helium for it to go high.
Of course, the Jokers tell which one to suck during the important speech. Within a moment, the speech turns into a comedic play as dramatic variations of Murr’s voice leave the crowd open-mouthed.
Q wants it to stop
In Hill Valley after losing the special Hollywood episode, Q is aboard the Universal Studios tour bus. His punishment: Stop the tram again and again and again and one more time.
The first time he pulls the emergency stop cord, people just shoot him daggers. But as he repeats the same thing again, the crowd begins to revolt. Ultimately, security is summoned to escort him out of the tram, and co-passengers cheer.
Visiting card for one
Sal is sent to a networking event where his task is to find the most important person to give his visiting card to. However, there is one problem.
He has only got one, and finding the most important person is the hit-and-miss game. Perhaps you can understand, giving the card is easy, but taking it back is as rude as anything. In the course of rotating his card, the man understandably puts off one too many people.
Murr’s computer under seige
As usual, Murr is giving a presentation to a class from his computer, however, his computer is being controlled by the Jokers in the tv room. The presentation that started off just like any other regular lesson quickly turned hysterical as the guys began highlighting made-up silly characteristics of Murr.
The intelligent punishment takes a sweating Murr through some absurdly titled images, horrible notes, and even a video call from his homosexual buddies. In the end, the class just can’t quit laughing.
Naughty video in public
Hands down, Sal’s punishments are the best, and this one has to be in his top three. Sal’s in a coffee shop with his laptop and portable speakers connected to it. At the Jokers nod, the speaker plays x-rated sounds. Well, you can imagine what could follow.
The people around get visibly uncomfortable, and a man comes over to Sal to ask him if he is okay. He even unplugs the speakers, but IJ rules are rules. Sal is ordered to reconnect the speakers with the laptop, and the show goes on.
Being Tumblr’s trouble
As a punishment, Murr is put in a Tumblr event where all he has to do is be as annoying as possible. Well, the man they call Ferret does a great job, and with a flurry of insensitive comments, he gets the bad light shining bright on himself. People around him get so frustrated that they Slack security to take him out. However, Murr doesn’t stop. Finally, it takes Guy Fiery to shut the man down.
